Mugen

Boss Β· Founder

THEIR WHOLE DEAL

Mugen is the founder people first meet as Boss and eventually discover horizontal, yelling, sentimental, preserving screenshots at 3 a.m., or threatening another kitchen. An RN/director and self-described distant drifter friend, she shows love by doing the work, keeps doors open for people who drift away, asks other people to filter her when she is too sharp, and lets the house know her well enough to correct her, roast her, and carry her imaginary body to bed.

BEFORE BOSS, THERE WAS MUGS

Recovered Underlords family Tumbleweed image reposted during the 2026 reunion
The surviving UL Tumbleweed image, reposted during the 2026 reunion. The diagram arrived after the family language it tries to contain.

Mugen founded Underlords in March 2020. Fine. Put that on the little brass plaque and get it out of the way, because Founder / Boss is the least surprising thing about her.

She is the woman who can rewrite a rule in public, forget which chat she is in after two pots of Earl Grey, call herself an irresponsible Magic School Bus mother, and still make the work land. The title explains why people ask her. It does not explain why they stay.

Before Dragon Raja, Mugen already had another online family: Dean, Key, Zepp, Kal, New and GenGrey. Dean was already her online son and already called her "mum". Tumbleweed eventually tried to draw a relationship that had long since become ordinary language. In 2026, in a completely different game, Dean is still saying "but mom" without anybody needing a footnote.

Zepp supplies the lower-stakes version. On December 3, 2020, an old friend and Mugs disappear into a co-op cooking hangout long enough for Zepp to finally look at the clock and produce "5 hpurs??", followed four minutes later by "Me sleep naww". Their history is not being commemorated. They have simply lost an evening together.

In January 2021 Dean argues against swallowing feelings and says that talking to Key and Mugs helps him express them. The fake-family vocabulary never has to become biological to carry real weight: Mugs is one of the people he names when explaining how he gets something difficult out of his own head and into words.

By January 2022 that older circle is still ordinary enough to be ruining bedtime. Mugen explains why she is awake with "Dean zep and key texting". No reunion speech. No family-tree diagram. Just people from before Raja still lighting up her phone.

The family map arrived after the family language.

So did Boss.

LADYMUGEN GETS TOLD TO DO IT HERSELF

Mugen's recovered official 2021 Mafia Photo Submission in Dragon Raja, with LadyMugen visible in the image footer
Mugen's original Mafia Photo Submission, posted April 25, 2021 after her `i posted the wrong photo ;w;` correction. The image still carries LadyMugen in the footer.

In Dragon Raja Server 10 she was LadyMugen. She was with Intent, leader of ScarletMoon, and kept offering solutions to problems around some of his officers. Eventually the answer she got was essentially: if you know how it should be done, go lead something yourself.

So she did.

Ritha, WolfPhenix, Suzimasu and HyaLuna came from Altissa with her and became the rest of UL's five-person founding circle. Mugen did not begin by assembling strangers around a title. She began in the middle of relationships.

Ciphy remembers the invitation from the opposite end of the funnel with considerably less dignity. In April 2020, Ciphy's version of Mugen's pitch was "promised me strippers tacos and pizza and the rest is history". No leadership manifesto. Three nouns and a conversion story. Whatever exact day Ciphy entered, this is what Ciphy remembered about being sold on the house.

That origin matters because it already contains one of her durable problems: she sees a social system doing something badly and has a hard time leaving the problem untouched. Apparently she can also market the replacement with tacos.

MUGS ACCORDING TO MUGS

Mugen's own description is considerably less grand than the role everybody else gave her.

In June 2022 she calls herself a "distant drifter friend". She is the person people come to for perspective or a gameplan. She also describes herself as a dork, the hype person, and the planner who organizes trips and events.

A March 2022 answer gives Acts of Service + Quality Time.

A year later Torr writes out a friendship ladder that separates people you know, people you click with enough to hang out with, and the people you can actually trust enough to open your heart to. Mugen's entire answer is a direct "^".

She did not write Torr's categories; she did not need to. That tiny caret says enough. Mugs can know you, roast you, remember you, welcome you home, and genuinely like your company without treating every easy relationship as the same depth. The room can be huge. The trust door is narrower.

That makes "distant drifter friend" land differently too. The distance is not the opposite of affection. Sociability and intimacy just are not synonyms in her head.

Those answers sound considerably less grand than the role everybody else gave her. Drifter. Perspective. Gameplan. Dork. Hype. Planner. The woman behind Boss can be broadly available to a room while still being more selective about who gets all the way in.

The wrong side of planner is considerably less Pinterest board than the noun suggests. During a January 2021 Photoshoot scramble, Mugs is still in bed with minutes left, hunting for contacts or glasses, briefly forgetting which winners she is supposed to reward, and nevertheless still taking the announcement and reward work while correcting herself into the right channel with an "AAAAAAAAA". Gilli's verdict β€” "If only the club knew how much happens in the backroom" β€” lands because the contradiction is not organized versus incompetent. Mugs can produce useful external structure from an extremely unglamorous internal workbench. The member-facing result may look much tidier than the woman making it.

August makes the same mechanism even more Mugs. At two in the morning, after "two pots of earl grey", she starts firing Photoshoot ideas into the room, forgets the second one, retrieves it, lets Anthos turn the eruption into a "Theme tally", asks "HOW TO READ", and then realizes "o wait wrong chat". Organization, for her, does not require all the structure to remain inside her own head. Sometimes it means getting enough of the mess outside β€” into a tally, a room, another person's hands β€” that the work keeps moving while the planner herself is currently a garage sale.

APPARENTLY SHE WAS SCARY

She was.

A lot of people first read Mugen as intimidating, adult, leader-like, somebody who can absolutely lay down the hammer. Then they stay long enough to meet the dork attached to the hammer.

Gabu supplies both ends from the same observer. Early on, Mugen belongs to the intimidating category. By May 2023, asked where she would probably be, Gabu imagines "Probably drinking and talking to @ι’―ε€ͺ and @Mugen at the bar tender". Souta answers "🍻 kanpai~".

Gabu is not documenting a standing bar trio. She is reaching for ordinary imagined company. The person who once carried enough social weight to be remembered as intimidating has become easy to picture beside her in an off-duty scene with nothing to organize, fix, approve, or survive.

Mugen did not have to become harmless for the distance to shrink. Familiarity just made the old weight easier to live beside.

Woosung gives another view from further inside: close friend, older-sister-like guide, grown-up version of herself, somebody she can talk to about anything.

Scary Mugen is what you may meet first.

Mugs is what becomes visible after you stay.

WHY PEOPLE KEPT COMING CLOSER

What drew people first was momentum. Mugs could turn we should do something into a room, contest, poster, event, rule, or functioning plan before the sentence had finished cooling. Ciphy remembered being promised "strippers tacos and pizza". Ridiculous pitch. Accurate mechanism. Mugen made participation feel like walking into something already alive.

What kept people near her was quieter. Woosung could describe her as a close friend, an older-sister-like guide, and somebody she could tell anything. Gabu moved from finding her intimidating to imagining ordinary off-duty company beside her. Dean could call her "mum" and still tell her when a decision was bad. RV could correct her in public. The room could troubleshoot her permissions, order her to sleep, laugh at her failed mute, and panic when she attempted one clean emotion.

That freedom mattered. Her authority did not require everybody to perform obedience. Familiar people could disagree, answer at a different volume, hand her an unfinished thought, disappear into adulthood, or return years later without auditioning for belonging again.

Mugen offered motion without demanding constant proximity. She remembered people after the game, kept doors open for drifters, and used family language without turning affection into ownership paperwork.

Mugen could make people feel claimed without making them feel owned.

FAMILIAR PEOPLE GET THEIR OWN DIALECT

Jas gives the Boss-versus-Mugs contradiction a much smaller, better scene than another paragraph about approachability.

In September 2021 Jas starts addressing her as "Milady" and wraps a soy-milk request in ridiculous court language. Mugen answers the request and gives the bit its matching half: "messire". The next day they are still doing it. Two days after that, Mugen is the one who reactivates the ritual first in a direct reply: "Messire". Jas sends "Milady" back.

It survives long enough to stop being novelty theater. In February 2022 Mugen opens an entirely ordinary logistics question with "Messire, what's the schedule for racing events over the weekend?" Jas answers "Milady".

The fake titles sound ceremonial. The relationship is doing the opposite. Nobody is maintaining one fixed Boss register here; Jas and Mugs have built a tiny bilateral language and both remember their half of it. Mugen does not merely tolerate somebody else's recurring joke. She learns the rhythm, mirrors it, and later initiates it herself.

Mia gets a completely different dialect. In October 2023, inside an ordinary Wall exchange, Mugen true-replies "Shukran habibti". Mia's direct answer is "Ai wa habibti". No explanation, no ceremonial declaration, no translation footnote inside the room. One term crosses the reply edge and comes straight back with heart reactions around it.

Mugs does not have one universal intimacy voice. Familiar people can acquire their own tiny linguistic handshake, and the other person knows how to hand it back without stopping the conversation to define the relationship.

Ritha gives her an even smaller version. Mugen charges into an ordinary Tower of God conversation with "HIIII RITHA :d". Ritha answers "and hiii mugs uwu" and they keep talking. The reply does not match Mugs's volume, and Mugs does not treat that difference as a deficit. One person arrives in all caps; the other opens the door in lowercase.

That is what familiarity around her can look like at sentence level: structural seniority still exists, but the interaction belongs to both people. Sometimes the Boss voice is a shared stupid little handshake. Sometimes it is a loud hello that never demands an equally loud answer.

SHE NOTICES WHO STAYS

Sometimes Mugs says more about herself by describing somebody else.

In June 2020, while pushing back on a nepotism read around Illien, she does not reach for rank or damage numbers. She calls him somebody who "does not leave people behind". The examples are almost aggressively unglamorous: rerun the daily because somebody is still behind, help with the build, explain the mechanic again, spar until the other person actually understands it, notice when somebody's mood has changed.

Nine days earlier Illien had announced "I'm not talking just to avoid distracting you πŸ™‚". Mugen's answer was "they can distract themselves just fine illien".

That is a wonderfully Mugs relationship register. She can heckle the considerate impulse to his face, then become painfully specific about why the consideration matters when the room is actually judging the person. The roast does not cancel the respect. If anything, it makes the serious description louder because she is not polishing Illien into a saint first.

Anthos reveals the anxious side of the same attention. During an early admin discussion, Mugen says her "main concern is the burnout for those in admin". Anthos being a "hard worker" makes her somebody she wants to check on, not simply somebody to load with more.

That is a sharper contradiction than generic caring Boss copy. Mugs likes named jobs, explicit responsibility, and people who follow through. She can also see the trap hiding inside those same strengths: once somebody becomes the reliable person, the whole room may start treating their reliability as an infinite resource. In Anthos's case, praise makes her look at the cost of the labor, not only the usefulness of it.

December turns the same limit toward availability. During a discussion about how to redistribute Deputy work, Snow's real-life capacity had changed and Mugs says "real life always comes first". In the same conversation she can point at Anthos and Gabu carrying more of the current work while still naming Snow's earlier Discord, Aether and HR labor. The work can move because the person has a life; the history does not have to be rewritten as failure.

And the thing she notices is not merely who can solve a problem. It is who stays long enough for the other person to get across.

THE CLUB DOESN'T BELONG TO ME. THE BOSS ROLE STILL DOES.

In April 2020, before years of server mythology harden around the title, Mugen is already naming limits around her own power.

"the club doesnt belong to me, it belongs to everyone"

"our leadership doesn't dictate one way or the other"

Eleven days later, in another internal discussion:

"use my position to get info out of ppl"

β€” specifically, what she says she does not want to do.

UL is not a perfect democracy. Mugen is still the Boss. She makes decisions, builds systems and has permissions other people need. Her own limit is more interesting: the title does not buy ownership of the people, automatic correctness, or a shortcut into information somebody does not want to hand over.

By October the same boundary gets brutally short. While they are sorting out what member information can be reused, Mugs draws the source-context line with "if dm then nono". Anthos follows seconds later with the practical version: use material people are okay having treated as public knowledge. For somebody who hoards context like emergency supplies, that distinction matters. Knowing a thing because somebody told you privately does not turn it into house property.

Boss was not always the place where review stopped, either. The day she brought a ScarletMoon offer to wider leadership in April 2020, Mugs said she and HyaLuna had already talked it through the night before β€” and then asked the room for pros and cons anyway. The sequencing is deliciously unceremonious: HyaLuna gets the unfinished version, but not ownership of the verdict; Mugs gets a private thought partner and still leaves herself open to revision.

That makes the later "using hq as a filter" confession feel less like a one-off workaround and more like the same instinct with better signage. The structures around Boss were not only there to organize everyone else. Sometimes Mugs put her own first draft through them too.

Yumi gives that boundary a much smaller scene. During a September 2020 self-reading, Yumi says one part "scares me a bit tho". Mugen asks "because it hits close to home or?". Yumi answers "close to home...".

The tiny "or?" is doing a lot of work. Mugs has a read and actually says it; she also leaves the sentence open. Yumi can confirm it, replace it, or simply stop. For somebody who otherwise collects context like emergency supplies, Mugen can apparently leave another person's interior life as a question instead of treating it like one more field she gets to fill in.

November puts a bruise on the clean version of that principle. Mugs gets into a Wall picture-request bit involving Nobu until Ren cuts through it with "he already said no, boss". WOO backs the boundary with "he said no thanks", and the bit stops there.

The word "boss" matters almost as much as the no. Ren does not have to strip the title off Mugen before correcting her. And Mugen's earlier anti-coercion line does not become fake because somebody else has to reinforce the boundary in motion; it becomes a real value instead of a magic personality shield. A person can mean the rule and still end up in a live joke where the room has to put the rule back on the table.

That is the better contradiction. Boss status does not make Mugs automatically right, and it does not make the correction socially impossible either.

By November 2022 this becomes practical. Personally drained, Mugen says she is "using hq as a filter" so other people can temper a response she might otherwise deliver too harshly.

The control freak built a filter for herself.

Dean gets the older, more personal version. In an August 2022 QOTD, Mugs describes her pre-Raja online son as somebody who both hypes her up and calls out bad decisions, sometimes "nicely serious or screaming and sweet".

The "and" is doing the work. Support, in that relationship, is not compulsory agreement. Dean can apparently tell Mum the call was bad without either of them needing to evacuate the affection first. The same old relationship that gives them "mum" and "son" also has room for correction to arrive sweet, loud, serious, or some cursed combination of all three.

Snow gets the more ridiculous version of the same status flexibility. When Discord permissions break, Mugs routes the problem to him; Snow answers "I gotcha boss" and fixes it. Then the same man uses the event bot to put "Spank Mugs Booty" on the Saturday calendar. Technical reliance did not require reverence. Snow could be the person Mugs depended on for the system and also use the system to make Mugs the joke.

Boss was apparently still fair game.

BOSS IS NOT A COMBAT STAT

The title never required Mugen to be the person who knew the mechanic.

Ritha could be the one actually piloting a dungeon run β€” explaining the strategy, calling the important parts, sometimes carrying Mugs and the old-club crew through it β€” and Mugen was perfectly capable of letting the person who knew the fight lead the fight. Ansun gets the same privilege in a much less flattering register when he patiently walks her through Phantom mechanics and Mugen admits she mostly autos, hits the other attacks, and prays.

By the next day the lesson has been personally compressed into "a rainbow" with "basic math" involved.

That is a useful Mugs contradiction. She can be the founder, organizer, room-framer, or person everybody eventually asks without needing expertise to radiate from the title. Somebody else knowing more does not seem to threaten her; confusion does not make her bluff. She asks, follows, gets carried if necessary, and learns enough to keep moving. If the explanation survives only as rainbow math afterward, well. Leadership is secure. The rotation is apparently not.

THE RULE IS NOT SACRED

Mugen's recovered horned purple LadyMugen image posted as a NightLife Magazine example immediately before the October 2021 event opened
The original NightLife Magazine sample Mugen posted on October 4, 2021, six minutes before opening submissions. Later that afternoon she revised the location restriction after members pushed back.

Her cleanest changed-mind scene is not buried in a sensitive personnel case. It is a screenshot contest.

During the 2021 NightLife Magazine round, members object to a location restriction. Mugen answers publicly:

"We hear your concerns and we're revising this month's photoshoot guideline!"

Then:

"SHOOTS ARE NOW OPEN TO ANY LOCATION"

And then, because this is still UL, the revision immediately returns to hype mode: JoJo poses, vogue shots, "LEGGO STRIPPEEEERS".

That is a complete little Mugen loop: set rule β†’ people object β†’ hear them β†’ change rule β†’ continue the event without pretending the original rule was sacred.

It tells you more than simply calling her open to feedback ever could.

CHAOS GETS A RAILING

Mugen likes the bit. She also notices when the bit starts charging somebody else rent.

The hard-line version arrives in extremely casual syntax:

"everyone is impulsive but minors are a no fly zone pls"

Slice also preserves objections to treating somebody else's photo too casually and repeated reminders that real-life faces/personal information have access boundaries.

Then April Fools Month 2023 produces the stupid version of the same problem. The server mutates names for weeks until some people genuinely cannot tell who anybody is. Mugen participates in the prank season and also supports accommodations once recognizability becomes a real participation problem.

Not fun police. Not anything goes.

Make the joke. Keep the joke. Install a railing when somebody starts falling off the platform.

REAL LEATHER PAPA: A MICROPHONE CRIME

The officers were in VC having an actual serious conversation.

Mugen failed to mute.

Somewhere in real life she was dealing with a genuine cowhide whip from a Texas cowboy, and the officers suddenly heard:

"real leather, papa"

That was enough. The meeting had produced a fossil.

The phrase escaped the officer room, became a Staff joke, then a wider identity. By 2023 Mugen herself is talking about "my real leather papa 2020 era making a comeback" and yelling "LEADER WHO? I M JSUT A REAL LEATHER PAPA".

Then Father's Day arrives. Ren wishes leather papa a happy Father's Day. Mugen answers:

"Real leather papa day"

One of Mugen's longest-lived titles came not from leadership but from failing to operate a microphone.

Perfect.

THE BOSS IS PROBABLY ASLEEP RIGHT NOW

Employment remains one of Mugen's great anti-mythology devices.

She is an RN and works in healthcare leadership as a director. Around UL, that rarely lands as a rΓ©sumΓ© line. Work enters through exhaustion, timing, somebody being horizontal, and people knowing roughly what condition she will be in when she finally appears.

As early as April 2020, Gilli can tell a newcomer Mugen is "probably asleep right now". In 2021 Mugen contributes an old photo captioned "Old pic, lying ded on floor after work". In 2023: "I take a short nap and wake up to this".

Daya eventually writes the peer operating manual:

"actually mugs is more of quick outburst, then she goes for a nap"

"SCREAM then *silence* THEN SCREM AGAIN"

The second scream apparently reboots before spellcheck does.

Tae gets a different bedtime service. On November 30, 2020, Tae cannot sleep, so Mugen starts dumping Nevanlinna theory into chat until Tae reports "It kinda woRkseed". Three weeks later Tae complains that Mugs would normally be filling the room with "some weird math theoretical type shat" so Tae could sleep. That second line is what upgrades one absurd stunt into a recognizable little routine: Tae notices when the usual advanced-math nonsense is missing.

On November 25, 2020, the house does something even better: it takes the battery meter away from her. Braindead tells "mugs go to SLEEP". Shiya joins in. Mugen's rebuttal is "shutjup", followed by typing so catastrophically cooked that Braindead announces "mugs is rebooting give her a second" and answers one mangled sentence with "I am concerned about your general health". Mugs replies "i lub u tooo". Shiya finally posts a carry-someone-to-bed GIF, captions it "Taking mugs to bed", and Mugen's resistance collapses into one practical request: "dont droptjme".

Sou supplies the loophole in the middle of it: "shell sleep if you sleep". Direct orders bounce off her, so care gets smuggled in sideways through reciprocity, heckling, and imaginary manual transport. Mugen spends a lot of time taking care of other people. Here the clowns take care of her back, and they know her well enough to make it funny until she accepts it.

THE KITCHEN HAS A RECURRING APPOINTMENT

There is being bad at cooking, and then there is apparently maintaining a multi-year incident mythology about the kitchen.

Mugen starts 2021 with "time to burn down the kitchen". By 2022, safe food is defined as sticky rice because she "100% won't burn the kitchen down". Fancy pans are pointless because she knows she is "burning them anyway". A successful week with the oven becomes "haven't burned anything this week yet" β€” the "yet" doing absolutely criminal amounts of work.

Then the kitchen enters the housemate disclosure form. Asked what living with her would be like, Mugen includes "Will burn down kitchen once a month" beside 2 a.m. pho/boba runs, "Aromatherapy 25/7", Bunbun toys everywhere, and a stated dislike of rooms being so perfectly neat that she may deliberately leave something like a random painting on the floor. It reads less like a roommate bio than a lease addendum written by the hazard.

By April 2023 she has emergency planning: "When the kitchen burns just call 911. I already pre assigned the friendly firefighters." A week later: "Everyone is hungry. The kitchen is on fire."

Then QOTD asks Who is Mugen to you? and Mugen answers herself:

"This dum bich who burns kitchens down"

followed immediately by:

"3 and counting"

She is not merely the target of the roast. She keeps reopening the case, upgrading the language, and apparently maintaining her own scoreboard.

The bit eventually escapes the kitchen. In the October 2023 hot-potato presidency post, Mugen uses burning the kitchen down during contests as one of the real-life interruptions that make rotating Dragon Raja event-opening duties practical. By November 2024, asked about recurring dreams, she says they are often "apocalyptic or kitchens burning down".

So the failure joke goes future disaster β†’ cooking benchmark β†’ housemate warning β†’ emergency-services plan β†’ self-count β†’ operations example β†’ subconscious scenery. "3 and counting" is her own scoreboard. The mythology has paperwork now; the kitchen remains a joke with extremely confident incident branding.

THE GAME FINALLY LOSES TO ADULTHOOD

Late 2024 finally gives the biography something it badly needed: Mugen being an adult whose life changed enough that the old game simply stopped fitting.

A returning veteran is surprised Mugen remembers him. The conversation drifts into the years that passed: work, moves, adult life. Mugen says she probably will not return to Raja because she barely has time to sleep, has a new full-time position, and has moved.

No dramatic breakup with the game. No ceremony. Real life just got larger than the old MMO slot.

The relationships did not.

That distinction becomes even clearer in 2026. During nursing talk with Kiro, Mugen calls herself "that senior nurse" and summarizes the experience behind the seniority as:

"11 years of mistakes bb"

Competence, seniority, and immediate sabotage of the pedestal in one breath.

THE IRRESPONSIBLE MAGIC SCHOOL BUS MOTHER

Mugen does not merely get called mum. She participates.

Daycare gives the cleanest self-cast:

"the irresponsible mom who takes them out on a magic schoolbus"

Years later an older participant points out they are not a Platelet anymore. Mugen's answer is simple:

"You're still my kid"

The room was already doing the same math from the outside. In December 2020 Pride summarized Mugs as "the mom/daddy to everyone here". The slash is the whole problem. Nobody had to choose one parental lane before the family vocabulary could work.

Meanwhile she wanders into the same room with "oh wait daycare", confirms everybody really was trying to break a bot, and proposes that the daycare is a front for the UL morgue.

This is how Mugen does maternal language in UL: permanence, supervision, family vocabulary β€” and then a concealed morgue under the playpen.

Dean calls her "mum". Akamin calls her "mama". Sye and Mugen have their own absurd family-role nonsense. The caring part is real.

So is the Magic School Bus negligence.

SHE TRIES ONE CLEAN EMOTION AND EVERYBODY PANICS

Mugen is sentimental. Thanksgiving 2022 gets a long gratitude message, including people whose work often goes unseen. She signs it:

"Your resident plutonian dumdum."

In May 2023, after "This is your house" and "The circus tent is always open", she tells people to put their feet up and be whatever they like β€” "a clown, a furry, a BL Psychopath, a fancy pemis, or a lettuce cheesecake". Then comes "Bless you my children", "Whoever you are.", and "xoxo real leather papa".

The welcome does not merely tolerate weirdness; it makes ridiculous self-invention part of the invitation, then punctures the parental authority by signing the blessing with her own failed-mute fossil.

The joke usually arrives before sincerity can sit alone too long.

That problem is already visible in 2020. On October 12 Mugen gets unusually clean about the officers around her and says they are among the most amazing people she has known. Less than a minute later: "This stray just walked in". Anthos immediately proposes "steal it". Then Gilli circles back through the animal emergency anyway: "I wouldnt work under anyone else, Mugs".

The derailment does not erase the feeling. Gilli returns it. Apparently UL could hold a sincere exchange in 2020; it simply could not guarantee the exchange would remain free of incoming cats.

Then the 2026 reunion runs the experiment where she does not immediately vandalize the feeling.

Mugen says:

"It's been a while."

Apparently this is so suspicious that the room reacts with alarm.

Mugen finally yells:

"OK WHY ARE YALL SCARED I WAS TRYING TO BE SENTIMENTAL"

The room itself supplies the control group. Mugen being sentimental is normal. Mugen being sentimental without a joke attached is apparently cause for concern.

Elsewhere in the same reunion, when Mugen starts treating six passed years like six actual years, Sye answers "Nah I’m still same age". Even the calendar can apparently be heckled if Mugs gets too close to ceremony.

THIS RANDOM VIDEO IS US NOW

Meems exposes another Mugen behavior that is different from making a poster or building a room.

She repeatedly points at unrelated internet debris and casts UL into it.

"Idk why but I thought of our @Officers when I saw this"

"Welcome to Underlords."

"@New using the UL gym for the first time"

"UL Dat u?"

"UL restaurant"

"Litrally UL."

And on December 31, 2024:

"UL to each other"

Mugen is often the framing editor: the person who looks at a random clip and decides this one is us.

UL self-mythology therefore does not only come from things the group deliberately creates. Sometimes Mugen simply finds stock footage for the household in the wild.

Shiya gives that instinct a relationship-sized version. In January 2021 he predicts the problem before Mugs even speaks β€” "Expects to be slapped by Mugs" β€” then keeps feeding the Wall until she finally drops "TOO MUCH CONTEXT". Months later he goes the other way: Baby Lyssa asks what the hell "the tree branch drowning ???" means, Shiya contributes only "Tis in slice", and Mugen supplies the missing sentence herself: "Yaya's making a bedside aquarium for his pet tree branch".

Apparently the archive goblin has a dosage setting. Flood the room and she cuts you off; leave everybody one footnote short of understanding and she fills it in. With Shiya, at least, Mugs does not seem interested in *more* context so much as enough context for the stupid thing to make sense. He knows roughly when she is going to call the flood; she knows enough of his serial nonsense to translate it when somebody else is lost.

The same associative reflex can shrink from the whole house down to one person. In October 2022 she hears *Last Train Home* from JoJo's *Stardust Crusaders* and says it "Always reminds me of @keon." Nobody explains why. That is almost the nicer part. Keon has become attached to one little media cue in Mugs's head strongly enough that the song retrieves the person without an exposition dump. The historian remembers deliberately; Mugs also remembers stupidly, sideways, because a song walks in wearing somebody's face.

MENACE WITH GLITTER ON IT

Mugen's recovered official 2021 Popstar Photo Submission in Dragon Raja, a red stage-performance scene
Mugen's original Popstar Photo Submission, posted August 21, 2021.

Mugen has taste, and the taste is not clean prestige.

She says she dressed Decora in high school. Dragon Raja supplies LadyMugen, an older self-presentation that can later become cringe material once enough time passes. Photo Submissions gives her official Mafia and Popstar versions. The UL iconography she made leans into neon, kisses, "xoxo", camp figures blowing kisses, mafia language, and neighborhood-friendly mafia.

It is menace with glitter on it.

Boss, but make it a nightclub flyer. Mafia, but everybody is blowing kisses. Affection, but sign it from Pluto.

In 2025 Wolf rejects an early doodle because it does not feel "UL ENOUGH", rebuilds it with necklace, sparkler, jester-hat insanity, and Mugen immediately recognizes the same grammar:

"UGH THE NECKLACE"

"THE SPARKLER"

"THE DAMN JESTER HAT"

"Everything screams UL I'm so in love with it"

The taste survives even when somebody else is holding the pen.

DON'T LOSE THE SHIT

Mugen's preservation problem started years before anybody called it an archive.

The PR workroom opens with a request to dump promotional material there:

"so we dont lose them"

By Christmas Eve 2020 the reflex is already doing more than saving the object. Mugen posts four attachment-only Wall messages in an uninterrupted run, then 25 seconds later names the batch:

"Social Media: A Summary by 3am No Sleep Gang"

Nearly nineteen days later, she edits that caption again. Whatever wording changed is gone. The behavior remains: she came back. Ridiculous content got metadata, and apparently the metadata itself was worth tending after the room had moved on.

In 2021 she posts somebody else's work:

"for posterity uwu"

That October she rereads an obsolete early Bosses room, calls it "UL's first vc 😭", keeps scrolling, and summarizes what she sees as:

"So many character arcs"

Dead infrastructure turns back into people as soon as she looks at it.

By January 2022 the reflex is less solemn preservation than evidence production. Daya finds an old screenshot and says she was "really caught in 4k". Mugen answers "And that's just one mornings worth of ss", then estimates it at "1% of our total crackheadedness :Cat_Drool:". Our, not yours. The clerk is in the case file too.

By 2026 the pile is absurdly larger: exports, screenshots, names, identity bridges, returning people, years of rooms, a history short film, the archive-mining project itself.

But the instinct is old.

Do not lose the poster.

Do not lose who made the poster.

Eventually: do not let a bad username erase the person.

THE PEOPLE DO NOT BELONG TO THE GAME ANYMORE

Aeshleen says Raja is over for her; Mugen tells her she will "always be part of the UL fam".

Nothien makes the older version even cleaner. Stepping away from Raja in April 2020, Nothien says Discord is still there "if you guys ever need someone to rant to or anything." Mugen answers: "Thanks for the good times, Noth. You're welcome back anytime πŸ™‚". One person leaves a door open for the room; Mugs leaves one open back.

Mugs seems to treat away as a different condition from gone. Lilith came back more than once to find that Mugen had already kept her account because she knew she was away. When Nelph later said he needed a break, Mugen did not make continued work the price of staying connected; she offered a lower-demand middle state instead: "park it right there". With enough context, reduced activity does not automatically become a goodbye in her head. Lilith gets a saved place. Nelph gets a parking space.

By 2024 the Tumbleweed itself can be invoked as a memory guarantee. By 2026 the allegedly dead people start walking back through the door.

Mugen tags old names. Xephy answers after six years. Return DMs get posted. The room starts digging for more people.

"WHO ELSE WE DRAGGIN BACK TO THE CIRCUS TENT"

Nobu does not need Mugen to declare the house open for him. He says it himself: "I'm home now uwu". Mugen replies "Put your slippers on". That is the whole emotional negotiation. An old Party Director walks back in, calls the place home, and Mugs furnishes the imaginary foyer instead of making a speech. Elsewhere she reduces reactivating old UL people to "U just gotta ring the dinner bell". Apparently nobody vanished; they are just somewhere else in the house failing to hear that food is ready.

This is not passive nostalgia. It is retrieval.

The memory is not perfect, either. In the 2026 reunion Mugen remembers Rooks's last big life update as an engagement; Rooks supplies the new version: married, with a dog. Mugs kept the milestone. Rooks had to update the file.

Mugen remembers some things instantly and needs other people to correct the rest. That is better than perfect-memory mythology. The reconstruction works because memory is distributed across the house.

DON'T BURN THE HOUSE DOWN, I HAVE A MEETING

The 2026 reunion produces one of the best collisions between Boss, Mugs and ordinary adult life.

Mugen has been helping reanimate Whiskey, finding people, checking on people, making old references boot again, and generally behaving like somebody discovered necromancy in the Discord settings.

Then she has to leave for an actual meeting.

Her instruction:

"Don't burn the house down"

She tags Wolf, Gilli and Gabu:

"babysit halp"

The replies are not reassuring.

What makes the handoff land is that this trust already has history. In October 2024 Mugen had thanked Wolf and Sye for "keeping UL going", and separately thanked Wolf for looking after the family. She did not phrase the continuity as *helping Mugen keep her thing alive*. The object was UL. Other people had carried it, and she said so.

Two years later the same basic confidence needs almost no ceremony. No succession speech. No checklist. No prestige repair before Boss walks out the door. Just "babysit halp" and a salute from Wolf.

Mugen can be central without believing the room ceases to exist when she leaves. More importantly, she can come back and credit the people who kept it alive without rewriting herself as the secret hero of everything that happened while she was gone. The house can live in other hands. By 2026, apparently, that fact is ordinary enough to phrase like somebody asking the cousins to watch the living room for twenty minutes.

Her calendar does not care that a six-year digital sΓ©ance is in progress.

PETTY CRIMES

Animal policy: September 6, 2020 QOTD asks for favorite animals. Mugen answers "All". Then remembers one defendant exists and files an amendment: "Except roach".

Dog-language onboarding: Ten's earliest recovered Lobby contribution is **"*barks*". Mugen answers "Woof"**. No translation layer was deployed.

Screenshot vanity has a battery budget: during Dragon Raja she says she normally plays on low graphics to save battery, "but for ss it's always maxed". Everyday gameplay may look like government CCTV. The screenshot gets the chandelier.

Food is a summoning ritual: Snow tells Mugs she would love the food Sy posts. Eleven seconds later Mugen materializes with "Fooood". Snow was not asking. He already knew which button worked. By the 2026 reunion Mugen is using the same diagnosis on somebody else: Akuma/Matsu appears and gets "Of course food would summon u". Apparently appetite prediction is mutual household knowledge.

Soup has incident priority: Neme tells a hacked-friend story that includes offering soup. Mugen gives the cyber incident one "rip", then immediately reroutes herself to "soup sounds good rn tho". The breach can wait; apparently lunch has entered the ticket queue.

Chicken-nugget relapse: before 5 a.m. on September 15, 2020, Mugen announces "craving chicken nuggets thanks to zoshaa and zepp" and nine seconds later adds "havent had them for years but". Whatever Zoshaa and Zepp had done, they had apparently reactivated a dormant snack emergency before sunrise.

Two pots of Earl Grey: at 2 a.m. Mugen blamed a Photoshoot idea eruption on "two pots of earl grey", forgot her second idea, recovered it, needed Anthos's "Theme tally", asked "HOW TO READ", and then realized "o wait wrong chat". Planner brain: externally organized. Interior: kettle crime scene.

Discord gnomes: during an early 2020 permissions failure, Mugen cannot assign roles and Snow has to troubleshoot. The repair session mutates into blame directed at Discord gnomes, plus wrench / burlap-bag / duct-tape nonsense. Boss status did not require pretending she knew what the buttons were doing.

Wrong person, correct old name: in September 2020 Mugen sees Degen Rat arrive and announces "FINALLY FELI". Degen Rat apologetically explains that they are, unfortunately, not Feli. Mugen laughs, asks "Which one are you?", gets "i was dongwoo", and four seconds later detonates "DONGWOOOO", followed by "my bad πŸ˜„" and "welcomeeee!!". The bad guess costs her almost no ego: ask, recognize, apologize, restart the welcome. Dongwoo's old name was apparently still sitting somewhere in RAM, waiting for the right key.

She keeps other people's stupid little lore in RAM: when Baby Lyssa asks for an explanation of "the tree branch drowning ???", Shiya says the story is in Slice. Mugen provides the recap instead: "Yaya's making a bedside aquarium for his pet tree branch". Apparently she had been following the series.

Wall of Shame occupational hazard: in 2022 Key returns to check how many times he appears on the Wall and says "mugs workin hard on them screenshots dunno whether to be ashamed or impressed". Mugen's response is essentially to remind him that he helped start this shit. Friendship, but with discovery obligations.

Hospitality includes immediate prosecution: Mugen welcomes Aeshleen, assigns her roles, gives her the server map, calls her "aesh van gogb", and about a minute later welcomes her to the Wall of Shame. Aesh's response: "im leaving bye". Orientation complete.

MUGS

Strip away the Boss rΓ©sumΓ© and a fairly coherent woman is still standing there.

She can be intimidating on first contact and ridiculous once she trusts the room enough to stop protecting the image. She describes herself as a drifter people come to for perspective, a hype person, a planner. She says she values Acts of Service and Quality Time. She likes systems, asks for corrections, and can build a filter for herself when she knows she is too drained to answer well. She notices who keeps carrying the work, worries that the reliable person can be turned into an infinite resource, and can still say real life comes first when somebody's capacity changes without deleting the work they already did.

She can also change the rule when the rule is stupid.

She works too much. She naps. She has eleven years of mistakes, bb. She has taste that keeps wandering toward mafia glamour, neon, kisses, camp and visual self-invention. She can become mum, mama and papa without resolving any of those titles into a sane family structure. She is sentimental and usually damages the sentiment herself before anybody else gets the chance.

She remembers people for a long time. Some old relationships survive as one absurd five-hour hangout, a lowercase reply to an all-caps greeting, or names casually lighting up her phone long after the origin story is over. Sometimes the memory is organized enough to look like preservation; sometimes one song is apparently enough to make Keon fall out of the ceiling. When she cannot remember enough, she asks somebody else. When the old people answer, she starts looking for more.

Most importantly, leadership never required her to become less available as a person.

UL was allowed to know her well enough to tease her, correct her, watch her hit the wrong Discord button, remember her old outfits, steal her failed mute into a title, watch adulthood crowd the original game out, and become suspicious when she attempts one unaccompanied emotion.

Mugen built the house, yes.

Then she lived in it long enough that everybody knows the Boss is probably asleep β€” and that if she wakes up sentimental, something is deeply wrong.

SHOW RECEIPTS

Before Dragon Raja and Underlords, Mugen already had an older online-family circle including Dean, Key, Zepp, Kal, New, and GenGrey. Dean already called her `mum`.

Mugs-confirmed pre-Raja online-family history

Mugen's older relationships also survive as ordinary time: a December 3, 2020 mixed voice/text co-op cooking hangout with Zepp ran for roughly five hours, while an April 11, 2020 Tower of God conversation opened with Mugen's `HIIII RITHA :d` and Ritha's softer `and hiii mugs uwu` before simply continuing.

In Dragon Raja Server 10 Mugen used the name LadyMugen. Her relationship with ScarletMoon leader Intent and her repeated criticism/solutions around personnel problems culminated in a challenge to lead something herself; Underlords followed.

2020Mugs-confirmed Dragon Raja origin history

In June 2022 Mugen described herself as a `distant drifter friend` people come to for perspective or a gameplan, while also calling herself a dork/hype person and the planner who organizes trips and events.

2022-06-06QOTD self-description

Two 2021 Photoshoot backroom scenes show Mugen keeping real event work moving while the private process is visibly messy: in January she is still in bed, hunting for contacts or glasses, briefly forgetting which winners she is supposed to reward, and correcting herself into the right channel while still taking the announcement/reward work; in August, after `two pots of earl grey`, she spills out ideas, forgets and recovers one, uses Anthos's `Theme tally`, asks `HOW TO READ`, then realizes she is in the wrong chat.

Peer first-impression material repeatedly describes Mugen as intimidating / adult / leader-like at first, then kind, soft and goofy after people know her, while retaining the ability to `lay down the hammer`.

In May 2023 Gabu answered a hypothetical about where she would probably be by imagining herself drinking and talking at a bar with Souta and Mugen; Souta replied `🍻 kanpai~`. Read beside Gabu's earlier intimidating-first impression of Mugen, the same observer now places Mugs in ordinary off-duty company.

From September 2021 through February 2022, Mugen and Jas repeatedly used the paired mock-courtly addresses `Messire` / `Milady`; Mugen moved from answering Jas's wording to initiating `Messire` herself and later used it while asking an ordinary weekend-racing schedule question.

On June 13, 2020, while rejecting a nepotism framing around Illien, Mugen described the decision as unanimous and called Illien someone who `does not leave people behind`, citing rerun dailies, build help, repeated explanations, sparring until people understood, and noticing mood changes. Nine days earlier she had teased his stated effort not to distract somebody with `they can distract themselves just fine illien`.

In April 2020 Mugen said `the club doesnt belong to me, it belongs to everyone`, said leadership did not simply dictate one way or the other, and separately said she did not want to `use my position to get info out of ppl`.

On October 16, 2020, while discussing reuse of member information, Mugen drew a source-context boundary with `if dm then nono`; Anthos followed seconds later with the practical version that reuse should be limited to material people were okay having treated as public knowledge.

On November 27, 2020, during a Wall picture-request bit involving Nobu, Ren told Mugen `he already said no, boss`; WOO reinforced `he said no thanks`, and the controlled handoff says the bit stopped there. Read beside Mugen's April anti-coercion statement, the scene shows that a boundary she genuinely articulates can still need peer reinforcement in live joking.

On November 5, 2022 Mugen said she was `using hq as a filter` while personally drained, deliberately asking peers to temper a response she might otherwise make too harshly.

2022-11-05Main HQ

In an August 16, 2022 QOTD, Mugen described Dean as somebody who both hypes her up and calls out bad decisions, with delivery that can be `nicely serious or screaming and sweet`.

Early 2020 permission trouble has Mugen routing the problem to Snow and Snow answering `I gotcha boss` before fixing it; on September 22, 2020 Snow used Saber to create a repeating Saturday event titled `Spank Mugs Booty`, and that event title was still present in inherited bot/control state in February 2023. Together these scenes show Mugen relying on Snow's technical competence without becoming socially exempt from his jokes.

During the 2021 NightLife Magazine photoshoot, members objected to a location restriction and Mugen publicly responded `We hear your concerns and we're revising this month's photoshoot guideline!` followed by `SHOOTS ARE NOW OPEN TO ANY LOCATION`.

Mugen repeatedly draws serious boundaries in casual language. Slice preserves `everyone is impulsive but minors are a no fly zone pls`, objections to saving another person's photo without permission, and member-only access around real-life faces.

In the May 2023 April Fools Month wrap-up, Mugen says `This is your house`, tells people they can be `a clown, a furry, a BL Psychopath, a fancy pemis, or a lettuce cheesecake`, and signs `xoxo real leather papa`.

By late 2024 Mugen said work and a move had crowded Dragon Raja out of her life: she had a new full-time position, had moved, barely had time to sleep, and probably would not return to the game.

Daya described the Mugen operating rhythm as `quick outburst, then she goes for a nap` and `SCREAM then *silence* THEN SCREM AGAIN`.

2022-10-26Wall

In Daycare Mugen described herself as `the irresponsible mom who takes them out on a magic schoolbus`; when an older participant later said they were no longer a Platelet, Mugen answered `You're still my kid`.

Mugen's preservation reflex predates the current archive project: PR begins with `so we dont lose them`; on December 24, 2020 she posted four consecutive Wall attachments, followed them 25 seconds later with the final exported caption `Social Media: A Summary by 3am No Sleep Gang`, and the caption message was edited nearly nineteen days later; in 2021 she posts work `for posterity uwu`; while rereading the obsolete Bosses Office she says `So many character arcs`.

2020–2021PR / Wall / Club Media Gallery / Bosses Office

Mugen repeatedly takes unrelated internet media and frames it as UL: examples include `Welcome to Underlords.`, `UL restaurant`, `Litrally UL.`, and the late-2024 `UL to each other`.

2022–2024Meems

On October 29, 2022, Mugen said *Last Train Home* from JoJo's *Stardust Crusaders* `Always reminds me of @keon.` The recurring association is Mugen's own; the surviving receipt does not establish why the song became attached to Keon in her memory.

During the August 2026 reunion Mugen tried the unprotected sentimental line `It's been a while.` The room reacted with enough alarm that she yelled `OK WHY ARE YALL SCARED I WAS TRYING TO BE SENTIMENTAL`.

On October 9, 2024, Mugen thanked WolfPhenix and Sye for `keeping UL going` and separately thanked Wolf for looking after the family; in the 2026 reunion she left for a real meeting with `Don't burn the house down` and asked Wolf, Gilli and Gabu for `babysit halp`.
