The 2020 and 2021 date-range exports for the current QOTD channel are empty because the current channel did not yet exist; December 2021 Announcements nevertheless preserves manual QOTD-style prompts from Gilli.
β QOTD
one daily question kept giving everybody another thing to remember about everybody else.
ASK. ANSWER. REMEMBER.
Manual morning prompts in 2021 become a dedicated room in 2022. By 2023 the questions can assume you already know the cast. The ritual is still recognizable in 2026.
2020 β THE CURRENT QOTD ROOM IS EMPTY
The recovered export for the current ββquestion-of-the-day channel contains zero messages in its 2020 date range. The same is true of its 2021 date-range exports because this channel ID does not exist yet. That does not mean UL never asked recurring questions before 2022; it means the current room cannot be backdated into existence.
DECEMBER 2021 β THE QUESTION LIVES IN ANNOUNCEMENTS
JANUARY 1, 2022 β FIRST QOTD FOR 2022
JANUARY 7 β THE ROOM OPENS WITH STRIPPER NAMES
The current channel is created at 09:52:52 PST. About six minutes later Mugen's first surviving prompt asks for stripper names, invites people to assign names to one another, tells them to use an "UnderLords Stripclub" status, and asks for a visual version of the character. The room begins by making people describe themselves and each other in public metadata.
2022 β 352 DATES OF LEARNING EVERYBODY ONE QUESTION AT A TIME
The recovered 2022 corpus contains 16,668 messages from 106 accounts across 352 dates. First impressions, wild assumptions, habits, preferences, values and repeated peer descriptions keep making the cast easier to read. Human hosts also wrap a remarkable amount of food, water, rest and affection around questions that are otherwise asking which cake somebody is.
2023 β THE DAILY QUESTION BECOMES A WRITERS' ROOM
From February through April, at least seventeen direct UL Mafia prompts walk members through weapons, introductions, bios, catchphrases, recruitment stories, outfits, jobs, goals, flaws, downtime, arcs, abilities and tragedy scenes. By this point QOTD does not need to discover the cast from scratch. It can use already-known people as creative raw material.
NOVEMBER 24, 2023 β "ON TODAYS QOTD"
2024 β THE REGULARS CAN REBUILD THE ROOM BY HAND
The cast is smaller and much more familiar. April's describe-someone / guess-who prompt produces 552 messages from only eleven humans. When the bot misses August 3, Sye notices, Momo demands that Ansun make questions, and Ansun supplies a museum prompt. On October 1 he does it again with "No questions? *Smashes skateboard*" and a TED Talk question. The bot is useful. The ritual no longer depends on it.
2025 β FIVE YEARS OF BEING WITNESSES
On April 20 Mugen asks what has changed in members' lives across five years of Underlords. The answers are adulthood updates: school, work, moves, homes, anxiety, money, travel, future plans, hobbies. The daily question has moved from "who are you?" toward "who did you become while we knew you?".
SEPTEMBER 25, 2025 β "0 CARDS REMAINING"
The final surviving Cafe Barista card ends with "UL Black Magic Blend -- 0 Cards Remaining -- 0 Suggestions". Earlier empty-card warnings had been replenished. This time the automated stream stops. The archive proves an exhausted stored-question queue; it does not prove whether somebody formally retired the bot or simply stopped refilling it.
2026 β THE PEOPLE PUT THE QUESTION BACK ON THE COUNTER
There are no Cafe Barista posts in 2026. Moon supplies most of the manual questions, New contributes an April run, and Ren and Mugen also restart the format. On August 5 Mugen asks for favorite UL memories and the room immediately retrieves Wall, Mafia, corpse kidnapping, the stripclub house, leaders in the basement and Gabu knowing all the answers without an orientation packet. The machine ended. The shared reference system did not.
SOURCE NOTES 9
The current QOTD channel's surviving transcript begins January 7, 2022; its first surviving prompt uses stripper names, peer assignment, UnderLords Stripclub statuses and visual self-casting.
The 2022 QOTD archive contains 16,668 messages from 106 accounts across 352 dates.
At least seventeen direct QOTDs from February through April 2023 develop the UL Mafia cast across biography, role, motivation, appearance, flaws, abilities and narrative arc prompts.
The April 2, 2024 describe-someone / guess-who QOTD produced 552 messages from 11 human participants, showing dense peer-recognition inside a smaller regular cast.
The final surviving Cafe Barista card on September 25, 2025 reports `0 Cards Remaining -- 0 Suggestions`; no Cafe Barista posts appear in 2026.
Archive proves queue exhaustion / end of surviving automated posting, not the technical or administrative cause.
In 2026 QOTD returns under human power, with Moon as the principal manual prompt author through the surviving August 6 cutoff.
The complete surviving QOTD archive currently available runs through August 6, 2026.
A previously published 2023 QOTD aggregate count conflicts with the direct complete-transcript reconstruction documented in the August 19 intake; public QOTD pages do not use a 2023 message/account total until the corpora are reconciled by stable message ID and export scope.
