The Wall begins in August 2020, and members explicitly negotiate whether it should be understood as a wall of shame, a hall of fame, or both.
𧱠THE WALL
put it on the wall.
SOMEBODY SAID IT. SOMEBODY SAVED IT.
Screenshot jail eventually becomes community memory without asking permission from either concept.
2020 β SAVE THAT
The name is disputed almost immediately. Ren calls it a hall of fame, then concedes that wall of shame works too. That ambiguity is the room: the same screenshot can be praise, prosecution, or both. The important instruction is simpler. Save it.
AUGUST 2020 β THE QUOTE DEPARTMENT IS ALREADY OPEN
The Wall does not need an image to make evidence. Rooks says he loves Zepp's quotes. Ren says she does not keep other people's quotes for nothing. Anthos describes her turning questionable member lines into "tag yourself" posts, and Ren tells him she is already collecting favorites. A sentence can leave the conversation and come back as somebody's public file.
2020β2023 β BEAT ME TO IT
The evidence desk becomes a race of its own. On October 16, 2020 Snow says he figured he would give "Sycee, Kuki or ana something to post"; Anayss says she is so used to Snow saying things like that she ignored it, Sye says "I can't beat them to it", and Snow jokes that Ansun is "always waiting in the wings for it". Weeks later Rooks yells "DAMMIT YOU BEAT ME TO IT" when Ansun files first. The same complaint later comes from Mugs when Snow beats her to a post, Baby Lyssa when somebody gets there first, Ren after Gilli files before her, and Xuseio after Ansun does it again. This is not the Wall's newcomer speedrun. The defendant is incidental. The curators are racing each other to the filing cabinet.
2020β2022 β FILE YOURSELF BEFORE THEY FILE YOU
Snow works out the immunity doctrine in October 2020: "you cant wall of shame me ... if I shamed myself first". It is not a one-off. In February 2022 Snow announces "just going to shame myself before the team does" and posts her own exhibit almost immediately. Marian/Panda develops the prosecutorial variant in May 2021: "even if i have to shame myself while doing it, i'm getting eos on this wall". Snow is trying to preempt prosecution; Marian is willing to stand in the blast radius if Eos goes down too. Nobody wrote procedure. They still found procedural tricks.
2021 β EVERYBODY ENDS UP HERE
By March, quote-preservation is recognizable enough for Baby Lyssa to yell "MAKE A CHANNEL JUST FOR MY QUOTES WHY DONTCHA". Ren says everybody has a spot on the wall of shame-fame and follows it with "one of us". Getting caught by the Wall is no longer only embarrassment. It means the room has noticed you.
MAY 2021 β THE RECORD WAS ALREADY A RECORD
MEE6 welcomes ZhΔnxΔ« at 11:33:37 PM. Less than seven minutes later Ren tags her in the Wall and ZhΔnxΔ« answers "NOOOOOOOOOOO" / "NOT THE WALL OF SHAME FAME". Sou calls it "shamed within 6 minutes of entry"; the machine interval to her first Wall response is actually 6m59.409s, so that part is bar math. The revealing part is Ren's next question: "New record?" / "Or aesh still holds it?". Sou checks the precedent and answers "so aesh still". Aesh's April speedrun had become communal benchmark memory within a month. Apparently onboarding had an unofficial second clock.
2021 β THE STRIP CLUB GETS HUMAN RESOURCES
The fake strip-club joke cannot simply remain a fake strip club. Mugen says prospective entrants need "some kind of entrance exam"; by Halloween Anayss is announcing "Strip club in progress" and promising updates on "applicationly". Mugen adds a bouncer reviewing applicants behind a curtain. Anayss adds fitting logistics. Two days later she is furious that somebody can get in by knowing the strippers' knowledge while "WE GET ID" and declares the system "RIGGED". This is not governance or an actual business. It is UL taking fake vice and giving it applications, standards, credential complaints, and a bureaucracy problem.
APRIL 2023 β SOU ANNEXES THE FAME HALF
Sou announces "no shame all fame", then "this is MY wall", and develops a constitutional theory of the channel title: "the reason why it says wall of fame is because of me β€οΈ you guys have shame". Moon points out that the word shame is still right there. Sou has already prepared for hostile textual interpretation: "I put shame in there for YOU" / "you guys made it fame for ME". This is not the room's naming origin. It is the title's afterlife. Three years later the sign on the door is familiar enough for members to litigate like personal property.
2023 β FANDOM OF OURSELVES
By 2023 the Wall can describe its own operating system. After a misunderstanding lands in-channel, DiStratus(Torr) points out that they no longer need to take a screenshot and post it to the Wall because the evidence is already standing inside the Wall. The room has become its own screenshot.
2025 β LET'S GO BACK TO 2020
Mugs comes back to the Wall in May 2025 and says "Let's go back to 2020", then labels one resurfaced moment "THE BEGINNING". The same room that used to capture the present can now be opened like a drawer and searched for an earlier version of everybody.
SOURCE NOTES 17
On August 22, 2020, Rooks wrote 'I fucking love Zepp's quotes' in the Wall and Ren replied 'Indeed.'
On August 24, 2020, Ren wrote 'I don't have other people's quotes for nothing' during an exchange about saved member quotes.
On August 26, 2020, Anthos described RV / Ren as repeatedly making 'tag yourself' posts from questionable things members had said; on August 27, Ren told Anthos she loved his quotes and planned a favorite-quote set like one she had already made from Ansun's.
Across surviving Wall scenes from October 2020 through April 2023, participants repeatedly complain that somebody else 'beat me to it' by posting a receipt first; the pattern is best read as a recurring curator race distinct from the Wall's newcomer speedrun folklore.
October 16, 2020 is the earliest surfaced example in the currently reviewed evidence family, not a proven origin. Several winning attachments remain visually unresolved.
Snow explicitly uses preemptive self-shaming in 2020 and again in 2022; Marian/Panda separately says in 2021 that she is willing to shame herself if that is what it takes to put Eos on the Wall.
Self-shame is a recurring tactic in the surviving scenes, not a formal rule or proven origin story. Marian is POSTED BY for eos.PNG; visual authorship/capture/featured-subject claims remain unresolved.
On March 24, 2021, a Wall participant wrote 'MAKE A CHANNEL JUST FOR MY QUOTES WHY DONTCHA,' showing that quote-preservation itself had become a recognizable Wall behavior.
On March 13, 2021, Ren writes that everyone has a spot on the Wall and follows it with 'one of us,' supporting the Wall's role as a social-recognition ritual.
On May 21, 2021, ZhΔnxΔ« moved from MEE6 welcome to her first Wall response in 6m59.409s; Ren immediately asked whether it was a new record or whether Aesh still held it, and Sou answered that Aesh still did.
Sou's 'within 6 minutes' wording is participant shorthand; machine timestamps put the first Wall response just under seven minutes. This shows Aesh's benchmark living in participant memory, not an absolute all-time record claim.
Across September 21, October 31, and November 2, 2021, participants develop a fake strip-club joke into entrance exams, applications, bouncer review, fitting logistics, ID requirements, and complaints that the process is rigged.
Comedy bureaucracy only; not formal governance, employment, or a real-world adult business.
On April 2, 2023, Sou jokes that the Fame half of the Wall title belongs to him while everybody else supplies the Shame half.
Title-afterlife joke only; not naming-origin evidence.
During 2023, the recovered Wall transcript contains 1,784 messages, 474 attachments, 56 embeds, and 326 reply-type messages across 179 active days.
On May 6, 2025, Mugs posts 'Let's go back to 2020' and later labels a resurfaced moment 'THE BEGINNING.'
The older recovered Wall export currently linked by the site ends May 7, 2025. That date is an export boundary, not the end of the Wall's known history.
A later 2026-only Wall supplement contains sixteen messages concentrated on August 8, August 9, and August 11, 2026, establishing archive-confirmed Wall activity after the older export cutoff.
The supplement is a small deliberate reactivation, not evidence that peak-era ambient Wall use resumed.
The Wall's early quote collecting can be read as character curation: selected lines become portable shorthand for how the room recognizes recurring members.
Interpretation of repeated quote saving, tag-yourself quote sets, and explicit favorite-quote collections.
The Wall is best read as a self-authored memory institution that predates the formal UL archive project.
Interpretation of the channel's shift from screenshot and quote capture to initiation, reputation, retrospection, and historical excavation.
