EATING
THE NEWBIES.
September 2020 already has Snow remembering that Mugen asked for `fresh meat`; Mugs confirms the meat meant new recruits. By Christmas 2021 the food math is counting members. In September 2022 Ren drops UL's own `:NOM:` into a live Lobby intake. Two days later the Wall says `biting new members`, and by Thanksgiving Mugen files `Eating the newbies` under UL's remembered habits.
The archive does not show a formal rite called Eat the Newbies. It does show newcomer language mutating through food and predation until UL eventually names the practice back to itself: Eating the newbies.
The 2020 branch is no longer on semantic probation. Snow's surviving callback says Mugen had asked for fresh meat the previous night, and Mugs confirms that fresh meat meant new recruits. The original prior-night Mugen message is still missing, so its exact wording, exact time, and whether it was the first-ever use remain open.
BEFORE THE TEETH, THERE IS ALREADY A NEWBIE FAQ.
Club Only points to #newbie-faq for general guides. The archive does not tell us when the room was created. It does tell us that newcomer orientation had a named place by September 2020.
THE MEAT BRANCH ALREADY MEANS RECRUITS. THEN IT STARTS COUNTING MEMBERS.
Snow's callback is the surviving archive object; Mugs supplies the missing semantic bridge: `fresh meat` meant new recruits. Christmas 2021 then gives the motif a stranger middle state: Sye starts with calories; Mugen answers with 260 members + 35 vacancies; Sye says that is not enough food; Mugen says she is feeding more and can afford some more meat. The 2021 transcript does not independently prove that this specific `some more meat` means newcomers, so the site keeps that line as supporting mutation rather than pretending every protein noun is automatically a recruit.
MAIN CHAT
NEWBIE FAQ
LOBBY TURNS ARRIVAL INTO DIRECTIONS.
When Sully arrives, Ansun sorts the account, points out the server map, names Whiskey as main chat, sends the newcomer to the newbie FAQ, and offers the Officers Challenge as optional extra nonsense.
THE INTAKE SCRIPT AND THE MOUTH NOISE OCCUPY THE SAME DOORWAY.
MEE6 welcomes Churro to Underlords and asks for the role-assignment details. Gilli greets Churro. Six seconds later Ren posts UL's custom animated `:NOM:` emoji. Churro answers the intake prompt; Ren immediately switches registers to `Lemme get u all set` and then hands over Biodata, the server map, and Whiskey.
The `:NOM:` is not stored as a Discord Reply, so the page does not pretend it is a literal bite threat aimed at Churro. What the timestamped sequence does establish is better: by late September 2022, native consumption grammar can sit inside an ordinary newcomer intake without interrupting the intake.
THEN THE METAPHOR GROWS TEETH.
On the Wall, Mugen describes the pooled Deleted User account as biting new members. The target account cannot safely be collapsed into one historical person. The wording can: this is the first currently surfaced archive line where the predation language itself names newcomers directly.
THE STRIP CLUB
DOORS.
THE NEWBIE IS ENTERING A HOUSE THAT ALREADY HAS A COSMOLOGY.
Mugen frames the first step through UL as entering the stripclub doors; Rich immediately starts inventorying who is inside. The attached visual from this scene was not inspected here, so the page does not describe it. The text is enough to show the threshold being narrated in native house nouns.
UL FILES THE PRACTICE UNDER βUS.β
Mugen's Thanksgiving message thanks the house by its own role vocabulary and then lists the behaviors everybody is meant to recognize: Alabama, corpse kidnapping, Eating the newbies, spelling crimes, booty, the stripclub, the pineapple-pizza war. No editorial nickname is required. UL supplies the phrase itself.
THE THREAT IS THE COSTUME. THE DOOR STILL HAS DIRECTIONS.
Two systems coexist in the surviving record. The house mythology makes being new into a recurring scene: recruits as `fresh meat`, later population-as-food math, a native `:NOM:` at the Lobby door, teeth, stripclub doors, eventually eating. The operational system makes being new legible: general guides, role assignment, server map, main chat, FAQ, introductions.
The Churro sequence catches both systems inside three minutes. Ren posts `:NOM:` during the welcome burst and is then the person saying `Lemme get u all set` and giving the new arrival directions. That does not prove how every newcomer experienced the joke, and it does not turn fake predation into a safety claim. It shows the house costume and the actual work occupying the same threshold.
source boundary
Earliest surviving is not origin. Snow's September 21, 2020 line says `Well mugs did ask for fresh meat last night`. Mugs confirms that `fresh meat` meant new recruits, so the phrase belongs in the canonical newcomer-predation genealogy. The original prior-night Mugen message is still unrecovered, which means the exact wording, exact timestamp, setup, and first-use/coinage question remain open. The Sept. 29, 2022 `:NOM:` is POSTED BY Ren inside Churro's intake burst and is UL custom server emoji ID `937154790855671828`; the sequence dates use of that native object, not its maker or creation date. The newcomer's exact age is deliberately omitted from the public receipt because it is unnecessary to this motif. Because Ren's emoji message is chronological adjacency rather than a stored Reply, it is described as consumption grammar inside the intake, not a literal direct threat. A March 1, 2021 Wall post titled `How to welcome new members feat. Underlords' Little Mermaid` and an August 22, 2020 Ren post captioned `The best thing to say to a new member` both have attached images, but those image contents were not available for visual inspection and are not used to backfill the genealogy. The December 23, 2021 sequence safely establishes population β food/meat grammar; the transcript alone still does not independently prove that its specific `some more meat` line means newcomers. Generic `nom nom` GIFs and unrelated meat jokes remain noise.
