# Cookie
Cookie has a wonderfully inconvenient social requirement: please stop looking at him, but absolutely do not start the game without him.
That is the person hiding underneath ":PandaRun:". He can react to attention like a small animal escaping a laundry basket, then complain when everybody starts VR without inviting him. He can yell "LIES", flee the jurisdiction, and remain completely available for the next allegation. He can say very little in prose while having an entire visual reaction language somebody else knows how to answer.
Current Staff is the formal label. The more recognizable Cookie is the man whose embarrassment keeps functioning as participation.
THE PANDA IS NOT ACTUALLY LEAVING
Cookie's defense vocabulary is compact because dignity has already failed by the time he enters the scene.
September 2020 gives us:
"im innocent, not horny"
By October 2021 the Wall has industrialized the procedure. Tofu files something. Cookie answers ":PandaRun:". Another case produces "its not how it looks like", "i swear", another running panda, then "so done". The next day or the next allegation can be compressed to "LIES" and the same escape vehicle.
What makes it Cookie is not one emote. It is recurrence, and especially the fact that the escape never really removes him from the room. The objection becomes part of the joke. The defendant keeps supplying reactions. Everybody receives another round because Cookie is still standing approximately three feet offscreen insisting that he has left.
He does not merely endure being teased. He performs the losing side of the bit with enough commitment that losing becomes his part of the entertainment.
THE DOOR RESET. GILLI DID NOT.
Cookie's server-access history has a much more human shape than a join-date ledger.
The stable account is already at a Lobby doorway on September 29, 2020. Then April 8, 2021 produces a fresh MEE6 welcome for the same person.
If that were a first social introduction, Gilli apparently did not receive the memo.
Twelve seconds later:
"KUKIII"
Cookie answers with an awkward-cat reaction.
Gilli:
"Role assigned bb!"
The exact technical story stays downstairs. Maybe the account had rejoined, maybe access needed restoring, maybe some other Discord state had reset. What matters to Cookie's biography is simpler: the bot behaves like paperwork restarted; Gilli behaves like Cookie is already Cookie.
Administrative continuity can break before social continuity does.
HE WANTS OUT OF THE SPOTLIGHT, NOT OUT OF THE ROOM
May 2021 catches Cookie discovering that people are playing VR.
"yall playing VR"
Then:
"i wasnt invited"
Then the crying emoji.
This is the quiet half of the PandaRun character. Cookie does not necessarily want less group. He wants less *everybody staring directly at Cookie right now*, while retaining his constitutional right to know why everybody started having fun without him.
December 2022 repeats the architecture version. Cookie has forgotten Slice exists, then runs into the fact that he does not currently have access. Ren explains that VIP access worked that way in that moment.
Again: there is a room people are using. Why is Cookie not standing in it.
The running panda is embarrassment, not withdrawal. Cookie keeps asserting belonging from both directions: stop perceiving me; also where the fuck did everybody go.
HE SPEAKS FLUENT STUPID PICTURE
Whiskey finally gives Cookie a communication trait that a text-heavy Wall biography was always going to miss.
On May 14, 2021, Cookie starts and carries a dense Gawr Gura / Hololive reaction cascade. Ren joins with matching Gura sets. Cookie keeps answering inside the same vocabulary. Then the Gura reactions recur again on May 17, May 19, May 27, and June 3.
That is enough to make Gura/Hololive a probable recurring interest. The more useful thing is relational: Ren understands the visual sentence and sends one back.
Cookie can be low-prose without being low-expression. A reaction image is not filler when somebody else recognizes exactly what language you are speaking and escalates in the same dialect.
This also makes his Wall defense style less mysterious. ":PandaRun:" was never just an escape button. Cookie is comfortable letting a chosen image do conversational work. The picture carries tone, exaggeration, embarrassment, timing. He does not always need the paragraph because the room already knows how to read the face.
TOFU KEEPS CHOOSING HIM FOR VIOLENCE, AFFECTION, OR BOTH
Tofu has been one of Cookie's most reliable bad-news delivery systems for years.
The old Wall version is prosecution: Tofu points, Cookie denies, the panda runs. But QOTD shows that the relationship does not need a screenshot to find the same register.
July 2022: asked who she would meet from the server and what they would do, Tofu chooses Cookie so she can get him out of his bad weather and fight him.
February 2023: hypothetical danger arrives.
Tofu's solution:
"Throw @🍪Cookies and 🧃Juicebox at them and run."
August 2024 is even cleaner because affection escapes before Tofu can put it back in the cage. She calls Cookie "such a little cutie on his own", then says in a group he is "just a man". Cookie answers with Fat_Wheeze.
Thirty-two seconds later Tofu returns:
**"Barely a man* fixed it"**
The timing is the relationship. Tofu says something nice, Cookie laughs, Tofu rushes back in to make it meaner. Cookie's laugh is not a correction or rupture; it is participation.
The fake aggression does not need to become literal hostility. The compliment does not need to become romance. Tofu simply keeps selecting the same man when a hypothetical requires somebody to fight, throw, rescue, prosecute, or insult affectionately. Cookie keeps answering in the register instead of leaving it.
STAFF IS A VERY PROFESSIONAL LABEL FOR THIS MAN
The funniest thing about Cookie being Staff is that nothing requires him to stop being Cookie.
He can be socially unserious and still notice the shape of the room. He cares when he is not invited. He notices access. He can distinguish source material from his own response. In one 2021 screenshot exchange he labels something "Got this from HAM", then thirteen seconds later labels the next item "my response". Behind the running panda is a functioning internal filing cabinet.
That is lived usefulness without personality replacement. Staff does not turn the defendant into a solemn administrator. It simply gives a current label to somebody who was already paying attention to who supplied what, where people are gathering, and how the exchange fits together.
Unfortunately, paying attention also gives everybody better material with which to prosecute him.
PETTY CRIMES
- Running panda counsel: exceptional brand recognition, terrible win rate.
- Defense specificity: "im innocent, not horny" remains one of the least effective ways to make a room less curious.
- Goat policy: "Man leave the goats alone xD", followed eleven seconds later by "unless we talking about Ganyu here". Cookie created the exception before anybody could challenge the rule.
- Gura dictionary: recurring Gawr Gura / Hololive reactions across May–June 2021, with Ren fluent enough to answer in kind.
- MediBang was open: Cookie posts a screenshot whose archived filename identifies MediBang Paint. This is a software-footprint clue, not an artist credit. The file says POSTED BY Cookie and stops there.
- Participation clause: if everybody is playing VR, Cookie would like the invitation before he is forced to file a crying emoji.
Cookie is easiest to recognize in the half-second after somebody looks at him too directly. Deny. Run. Come back. Complain. Throw an emote. Stay available for the next stupid thing.
The running is performance. The belonging is not.
