The 2020 Lobby asked newcomers for identity and access information including IGN, club, position, and minor/adult status for role assignment.
HOW EVERYBODY ACQUIRED LORE
first state your business. later acquire allegations.
UL had a problem: too many people, too many usernames, not enough lore attached to the usernames yet.
Nobody sat down in 2020 with a binder labeled How To Make The Clowns Knowable. The rooms arrived one by one because UL kept inventing new reasons to ask: who are you, what do you look like, what do you sound like, what are your habits, and why did somebody save that screenshot.
1. π LOBBY β PLEASE PRESENT YOURSELF TO BORDER CONTROL
The original channel topic asks for IGN, club, position, and whether you are over eighteen so UL can assign a role. It also says postyour and asks whether you are over eighteen or nah, because the bureaucracy and the spelling casualties are born together.
At first the rest is human concierge work. In May 2020, Rooks enters with βRooks, UnderLords, member uwuβ and gets a personalized floor plan: Whiskey for general chat, Slice of Life for IRL photos, the Louvre for art, Grind BL for boy love. Before UL built a formal tour, somebody simply stood in the doorway and explained why the game guild already had neighborhoods.
Then MEE6 becomes Underlords Stripclub Bouncer, receives AI Staff, and takes over the repetitive intake question. Eventually the post-role script routes newcomers to Biodata, the Discord Tour, and Whiskey Room while explicitly explaining Platelets. One little intake form has somehow become airport security with a nightclub theme.
And the Lobby is not only for strangers. Dead-account replacements, returning members, Moon and Rummy re-entering on later accounts, even bots come through the same door. A welcome message can mean hello, new person, welcome back, or Discord has once again forced us to reconstruct your paperwork.
2. DISCORD TOUR β WHY DOES THE GUILD HAVE A FLOOR PLAN?
By 2021, knowing the newcomer is no longer enough. The newcomer also needs to know why the Dragon Raja club has enough rooms to require guided tourism. Rules over there. Departments this way. Do not touch JAG without supervision.
At first somebody points down the hallway. Later the hallway gets documentation. It is still a hallway in a stripclub.
3. π BIODATA β PLEASE SUBMIT YOURSELF FOR DOCUMENTATION
Mugs opens Biodata on September 5, 2021 "by popular request." Roughly 38 profiles appear in three days because apparently everybody was waiting for permission to become their own wiki article.
The Bouncer asks what the server needs to know. Biodata asks what you want everybody to know. Much more dangerous. Now the file contains what you call yourself, what you reveal, what you omit, what you think matters, and whichever joke you could not resist putting on the form.
4. π¬ PHOTO SUBMISSIONS β THE USERNAME HAS ACQUIRED A FACE
Text was no longer enough. Now there are outfits, avatars, poses, screenshots, aesthetics, real faces, game faces, and enough display-name collisions to make future archivists develop a twitch.
5. π€ VOICE CHALLENGE β CATASTROPHALLY, IT CAN SPEAK
Accent. Cadence. Hesitation. Confidence. Rhythm. The abstract Discord entity is becoming suspiciously person-shaped.
6. β QOTD β DAILY CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT
One question is harmless. Ask one every day for years and suddenly everybody has preferences, habits, recurring answers, witnesses, peer reviews, and allegations.
QOTD is especially rude to the concept of a flat profile because it preserves both sides: what people say about themselves and what the room says about them. Sometimes those match. Sometimes the room has notes.
In 2022, QOTD helps everybody learn the cast. In 2023, the cast already has lore. In 2024, the lore needs maintenance. By 2025 and 2026, even walking back into the old ritual becomes part of the continuity.
7. 𧱠THE WALL β ATTACH RECEIPTS
QOTD asks who you are. The Wall answers with exhibits.
Screenshots, incidents, reaction piles, recurring jokes, cursed evidence, moments somebody looked at and said absolutely not, this is communal property now. Your identity in UL is no longer only what you submitted. It is also what survived cross-examination.
8. UL MAFIA β YOU HAVE BEEN ADAPTED
By 2023, UL has spent years building recognizable people out of usernames. Mafia gets to cash the check. Reputations, aesthetics, relationships, running bits, and known personalities are already lying around ready to be turned into characters because apparently ordinary friendship was not theatrical enough.
THE PART THAT GETS WEIRD
None of these things is bizarre alone. Introduction channels exist. Photo channels exist. Daily prompts exist. The deranged part is the stack.
First UL knows your role. Then where you should go. Then your self-description. Then your face. Then your voice. Then your habits. Then everybody else's opinion of your habits. Then the Wall has evidence. Then Mafia gives you a costume.
The org chart tells you who had authority. This tells you who had lore.
THIS IS WHY THE ARCHIVE IS A MONSTER
We are not trying to reconstruct a person from one dusty profile card six years later. We can compare what they said about themselves, what they posted, what their friends kept quoting, which jokes would not die, who they kept ending up beside, what the Wall prosecuted, and what changed when they came back years later.
Which is also why the evidence labels stay painfully responsible while the prose gets to have fun. A Biodata answer is not the same thing as a Wall joke. A QOTD reputation is not the same thing as a promotion record. A Lobby role array is not automatically a dated appointment. The archive can be delicious without becoming fanfic.
FOLLOW THE PAPER TRAIL
Start at Lobby for border control,Biodata for self-authored canon,Photo Submissions for visual evidence,Voice Challenge for the horrifying discovery that everyone had voices,QOTD for four years of character development, orThe Archive Before the Archive for the room that kept the receipts.
Early Lobby onboarding included human-written room maps; by March 2023, post-role onboarding explicitly routed newcomers to Biodata, the Discord Tour, and Whiskey Room while identifying light-pink names as minors/Platelets.
The Lobby also records account repair and re-entry, including replacement accounts and established members passing through the welcome flow again, so a Lobby greeting is not automatically a first-ever membership date.
The UL Discord Tour survives from June 6, 2021 through March 12, 2022, while Biodata begins September 5, 2021 and receives roughly 38 profiles in its first three days.
The recovered 2021 Photo Submissions transcript contains 164 messages from 19 authors, and Voice Challenge survives from October 17, 2021 through November 30, 2023.
The analyzed human-active QOTD corpus contains 40,841 human messages from 140 human participants from January 7, 2022 through July 30, 2026.
Across these systems, UL repeatedly created structured ways for members to become easier to identify, describe, recognize, remember, and culturally interpret.
