Shiki's surviving 2020 voice is easy to over-formalize because so much of it sounds like somebody compressing a lesson until only the usable part remains. Fight hard when the fight turns toxic. Study first. Take notes. Learn the timing. The archive gives him a cleaner human counterweight on October 1, when he uses exactly the same economy on a problem that deserves absolutely none of that seriousness.
He starts with "we still in covid 19". Gilli asks whether he wants a kiss. Mugen sets off Eli-bot face-lick nonsense. Snow is eventually asking where everybody's masks went. Shiki does not attempt to out-scream any of them. He just returns from the edge of the pileup with two words:
Virtual covid
That is useful Shiki precisely because the delivery barely changes. The Sensei register and the joke register are not opposites. In one scene the short sentence is instruction; here everybody else converts his premise into a digital biohazard and he supplies the diagnosis like the room has submitted homework late.
The bot action is not evidence that anybody literally kissed, licked, dated, infected, or touched anybody. The character beat lives in the authored text: Shiki sets a dry premise, lets UL become UL around him, and needs only two words to keep the bit alive.
THE DANGEROUS WAY COMES WITH A WARNING LABEL
The cleanest proof that Sensei is lived behavior rather than a card label arrives when Shiki volunteers to teach Anayss — Ana — the version of Soul Dancer most likely to require a disclaimer.
"if ana here i teach her aggressive sd lol"
The swagger lasts about as long as the "lol". Immediately: "but she need to be a bit tanky". Then Shiki calls his own method "a risky move". When Ren says Ana is really strong, he does not turn the learner into a helpless beginner so he can look taller. He credits what she already knows:
"She know the way of CC"
Then he explains how an Assassin should beat the style: finish the Soul Dancer quickly or get stuck in CC.
That is extremely Shiki. The playstyle is aggressive; the teaching is not reckless. He gives the condition, the risk, the counterplay, and the learner's existing competence. He is not selling a secret technique whose mystique depends on nobody seeing the failure mode. If the dangerous way has a warning label, apparently the Sensei prints it himself.
A few hours later Anayss addresses him directly:
"@Shk my master ❤️"
The little heart is doing useful work because the teacher read is being named back by the learner, not awarded from backstage. "Master" can still be playful or affectionate, and the proposed lesson itself never surfaces as completed. But the social role is lived enough: Shiki offers the method; Ana recognizes him in a teacher register. No promotion ceremony required.
DARK MODE HAS OFFICE HOURS
December 1 gives the same dry economy a different target: the server itself.
Rich is trying to put something Shiki allegedly said in VC the night before onto the Wall. The quote itself is gone from the surviving sequence. Shiki refuses the filing and announces:
in UL server too long will make me go dark mode
Tae goes to bed. Ansun tells him it is now safe to go psycho, sensei. Shiki's plan is not to become louder. It is scheduling:
i wait til u all go sleep mode
Then the destination:
so i can go jail chat
And finally the whole reason:
then kids will not see me
That is a much better Shiki scene than reducing the adult/minor boundary to policy prose. He knows the house has rooms with different audiences, says the younger crowd is the reason to wait, and turns compliance into the world's dumbest after-hours calendar. "Dark mode" is not a confession. Jail is not evidence of whatever Rich wanted to quote from VC. The missing quote stays missing.
The joke lives in the logistics: UL has apparently exhausted the Sensei so thoroughly that going feral requires waiting for bedtime and moving the operation behind the correct door.
